The job:  

The Homeownership Manager is responsible for overseeing the homeownership department, ensuring the delivering of high-quality, client-centered housing counseling services to our neighbors and sustaining CHWC's Homeownership program, which delivers HUD certified housing counseling education services and financial assistance, to promote sustainable homeownership in the neighborhoods we serve. This role involves supervising housing counselors, collaborating with other departments, ensuring compliance with applicable grantors and other regulations, and contributing to the development of departmental policies and procedures. The Homeownership Manager will work closely with customers and external partners providing a high level of service in a professional manner and will ensure homeownership programs reflect CHWC's commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity. The position is considered non-exempt, full-time and benefits eligible. 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible work in a fields related to homeownership, including real estate sales and/or mortgage lending, with at least a 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. 
  • Mastery of personal finance best practices and principles
  • Expertise in the statutory and regulatory framework relevant to homeownership, including TILA/RESPA, GLB, Fair Housing and other federal, state, and local rules.
  • Strong knowledge of case management models, client advocacy and service delivery.
  • Familiarity and comfort with teaching adult learners.  
  • Entrepreneurial business management skills; strong desire to grow CHWC’s Homeownership department to serve more families better, faster, and more profitably.
  • Strong technology skills & aptitude: CHWC is moving toward and increasingly cloud based, paperless, mobile environment, so comfort with existing and emerging tech tools is critical.
  • Leadership skills: A deep commitment to owning your work. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities 

Qualifications:

  • HUD housing counseling certification or ability and willingness to obtain certification within 90 days.  
  • Comfort with uncertainty, experimentation, and adaptation in a constantly changing environment. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline. Master's degree preferred. 
  • More than one language preferred. 

Hours:  40 hours per week. Hours will be flexible and dependent on the needs of CHWC, applicable deadlines, and other requirements. Occasionally Saturdays and evenings are required.  

Compensation: Base Salary:  Starting at 58 - 63K DOQ
