VolunTEEN - Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium

Students in the VolunTEEN program connect with their community in a meaningful way while gaining experience with animals and nature. The year-long program is designed to be fun and educational while empowering teens to take a greater role in their community. Teens are encouraged to reapply each year they are eligible, as returning VolunTEENs have to opportunity to expand their duties and responsibilities.

Open to applicants in 8th-12th grade!

Docent - Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium

Docents enhance the guest experience through welcoming and engaging interactions at exhibits around the Zoo. Docents assist the Zoo's Education Department by providing educational experiences for visitors and the community that reflect current information about conservation, the natural world, and its diversity. Docents provide animal interpretation throughout the Zoo, and may expand their duties to facilitate animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours, camp programs, and assisting with Education programs.

Retail Assistants serve customers at KCCG's Swope Park headquarters. Duties include welcoming visitors when they arrive at KCCG, cashiering, signing people up for memberships, answering the phone, connecting people with KCCG's different programs and resources, restocking, cleaning, and carrying out other opening and closing protocols for the retail space.

Flourish is looking for a few folks with flexible weekday schedules to help us get donations picked up. Most shifts are only 1-4 hours and offer flexibility. Help transform lives by driving or assisting our drivers in picking up home furnishings and essentials for families right here in Kansas City. NO CDL required for driver or driver's assistant position. Annual DOT physical required, paid for by Flourish.

Front Desk Help at Flourish

How would you like to be one of the first smiling faces our guests see when they walk through our doors? We need help greeting and checking in guests along with other administrative front desk duties, including answering phones, emails, and sorting paperwork. This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone who wants to interact directly with our guests in a fun, fast paced environment. Telephone, computer, and multitasking skills required. Front Porch Alliance provides a weekly robotics program for students in schools on the eastside of Kansas City. Students will engage in research, problem solving, coding and engineering. The program emphasizes teamwork, discovery and innovation. Students will also gain exposure to STEAM related careers.
